Act Six is an initiative of the Northwest
Leadership Foundation (NLF), a non-profit organization that exists to
encourage, strengthen and develop leadership for the spiritual and
social renewal of the city. In addition to Act Six, NLF is engaged
in a wide range of education, capacity building and leadership
development programs in Tacoma and other
urban centers of the Pacific Northwest.

Northwest University provides quality education in a distinctly evangelical Christian environment to prepare students for service and leadership while introducing organized fields of learning and taking into account Christian viewpoints, culture, and humanity in general. Gonzaga University, located in Spokane, employs an educational philosophy based on the 450-year Ignatian model that aims to educate the whole person--mind, body and spirit--in an integration of science and art, faith and reason, action and contemplation. "Cura personalis," or care for the individual, is the guiding theme. Founded in 1887, Gonzaga enrolls about 6,600 students in 103 undergraduate and graduate programs. Learn more at www.gonzaga.edu.

Tacoma-Seattle and 4 new scholars from Spokane for their first
Act Six cadre.
Trinity Lutheran College develops Christian leaders with a global perspective whose lives and ministry serve Jesus Christ in church and society through academic and devotional study of the Bible, rigorous academics, and service learning and internships in the greater community. Trinity, founded in 1944, enrolls 120 students and offers 10 bachelor's degree programs at its brand new campus in downtown Everett. Learn more at www.tlc.edu.
TLC is seeking 10 new scholars from
Tacoma for their first Act Six cadre. These Urban Service
Track scholars will begin with two years at Tacoma Community
College.
Through financial, emotional and spiritual support, the R. Merle Palmer Minority Scholarship Foundation helps financially disadvantaged minority students from Pierce County earn a post high school education. From its humble roots with six students on Tacoma's East Side in 1983, the vision and dedication of Merle Palmer has grown into an organization that each year provides nearly $300,000 in scholarships to more than 100 students from across Pierce County.
A critical partner in the initial launch of Act Six, Palmer Scholars
continues to provide important financial support that makes the generous Act Six
scholarships possible. As part of the ongoing partnership, every Act Six

The College Success Foundation (CSF), formerly known as the Washington Education Foundation, provides college scholarships and mentoring to low-income, high-potential students. CSF has partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to create the Washington State Achievers Program that each year provides scholarships and mentoring support to approximately 500 highly motivated low-income students from 16 high schools across Washington. With four Achievers high schools in the Tacoma area, CSF has been a significant contributor to Act Six scholarships, with nearly half of Act Six scholars receiving Achievers Scholarships.
