Study Abroad George Fox is one of the top 50 out of 1,400 American colleges in study-abroad participation, according to U.S. News & World Report. More than half of our undergraduates participate in an international experience. Richter Scholars Program George Fox undergraduate and graduate students receive funding for independent research projects conducted with a faculty mentor. We are one of 11 universities in the Richter Scholars Program, including Yale, Dartmouth, Cal Tech and the University of Chicago. Serve Day Every fall, the university closes campus for its annual Serve Day and sends more than 1,700 students, professors and staff members into the local community to do volunteer service at parks, senior citizen homes, churches, government agencies and nonprofit organizations. George Fox students annually volunteer thousands of hours in service in Yamhill County, Portland and throughout Oregon. Serve Trips Students use their winter, spring and summer breaks to volunteer locally and internationally on school-sponsored service trips. |

Warner Pacific is the only Act Six partner college to offer the Urban Service Track, giving Act Six scholars an intensive, hands-on urban experience. In addition, Warner Pacific offers many other distinctive features: Service Community service and involvement is a core part of our mission and our calling as an institution. Warner Pacific students work, serve and learn together, becoming friends and colleagues who deeply care for one another. They serve others in our neighborhood and the world by being in the city…for the city. Opportunity Our urban location offers professional internships, volunteer opportunities and work experiences where students can apply the knowledge and skills they’ve developed in the classroom and within a campus culture that is centered on Christ. Urban Advantage WPC embraces its urban context and the opportunities afforded by its location. Our ties to the city are not purely geographical, we are proud to be woven into Portland’s cultural fabric. We’re serving the needs of the city where we live, and accessing the multitude of opportunities (educational, service, social & employment) the city provides – this is what we mean by the “urban advantage.” Value Leader WPC has created a tuition structure that renders our tuition and fees 35 percent lower than the national average for private schools. WPC thoroughly prepares students for lives of leadership and service. Christ-centered WPC was founded in 1937 to support the work of the Church of God Reformation Movement (Anderson, Indiana). At our core is Wesleyan Holiness theology, which not only promotes personal holiness, but also social holiness. Inclusion and unity are tenants of our faith tradition. Paradox Core WPC provides a unique liberal arts core that challenges and supports students as they wrestle with the paradoxes present in our culture, informed by Christian faith. Common Day of Service Each September, Warner Pacific students, staff and faculty reach out to local schools, churches and communities with service project needs. Classes are canceled and offices are closed so that every member of the WPC community can lend their hands to help those in need who are just around the corner. |
